So The Godfather Parts 1 and 2 are clearly the best films of all time. They've been on TV incessantly over the past few weeks so I've been constantly bombarded with that fact lately. Pacino, DeNiro, Brando... three of the coolest guys ever. Also even though I'd bet no will agree with me on this, they were all GILFs at some point. I mean, Pacino and DeNiro still are haha. I'd say hello to Al's little friend anyday. Anyway, to be more serious, I love the character arc on Michael, going from a guy who just loves his family and wants to keep them safe to a guy who only cares about power and is suspicious of everyone so his family relationships fall apart. Then he kills Fredo. Poor stupid Fredo. He just wanted to go fishing. And Sonny just wanted to beat the shit out of Carlo, and we all know what happened to him. They couldn't enjoy the simple pleasures in life. I figured I'd get out my love for this movie here and every other board I post on lately because quite frankly my coworkers and my mom are really sick of hearing about it. Crazies.

I love Michael's transformation in the first and second films. In the restaurant scene, right before he heads into the bathroom, he has the eyes of the killer. He's no long the sweet army boy we meet in the beginning. And part of this transformation, actually all of it, is brilliantly realized by Pacino. I don't think there is another actor who could do such a wonderful job portraying this character.
I once used Kay's "I had an abortion, Michael" speech for an acting class. It was well received .

Yeah I love the restaurant scene. It's one of the most emotional movie scenes ever for me. It's the turning point for Michael. He'll never be able to stay away from the family business after he excuses himself to the bathroom. It's really sad. I cry every time I see it. Powerful stuff.

The ending always sends a chill through me. Just the way the camera shows Michael and the door closing on Kay. She's no longer part of his life, so to speak. He really becomes a monster of some kind... but I still love the character. Mainly because it's hard not to love Pacino. When he played the Devil in The Devil's Advocate I still loved him.

Haha I don't really want to see that movie because Al as the devil makes me very sad and is unbelievable for me. I think the end of Part 2 is worse, though. He watches over his brother getting killed and is all solitary. He's isolated everyone. It makes me so sad. The only reason I like Part 3 is because you find out that he really wasn't a heartless bastard after all.

The only actor who makes sense as the Devil is Alan Cumming. [Titus, God, The Devil, and Bob...] Honestly, if someone mentions the devil, I'm quick to quote something from God, The Devil, and Bob.
But, yes...getting back to Al -
The second installment is truly scarier than the first. The fact he killed off his own brother only went to show how far he'd go to protect the "family" business. The third one, while not really my favorite, is so sad at the end when he's by himself. In a way, he's come full circle. The thing that bothered me in the third movie was when he told his kids about his marriage to Apollonia [when he was exiled in Sicily]. But, other than that, it wasn't too awful.

I could have done without the incest... and Sofia Coppola. But at least when she was incesting she didn't have any lines.

This is true. It was saddening when she was killed off [or this can be a good thing too, I suppose... I don't know].
Andy Garcia was kind of hot.
But, not as hot as Pacino in the first and second films.

He was a little too hairy for my tastes. Also he was banging his cousin. Not two qualities that I look for in a man.

Yeah, me neither.
My preference are men who are insanely attractive, more than likely gay, and have an accent of some kind. x]

I'll just take any main actor from the Pirates movies, even Geoffrey Rush. But only if he dresses as Barbossa for me every night. Anyway, I just bought Part 3 for some unknown reason. I guess since I had the first two I thought I needed the third. My logic isn't logical.

Hee... *conjures up images of Geoffrey Rush in a bedroom wearing pirate's garb*
I would take Norrington.
[he DID appear in a dream of mine, so that accounts for something].XD
It sort of makes sense as now you have the complete trilogy. I got all three as a box set... not to mention the Godfather Novella on VHS tapes.

Yeah, it's nice to have all three, but I'll probably never watch Part 3 haha. That assassination scene with the helicopter was quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a movie and I've seen most of that Stiller moron's movies. And on the topic, yay I love word filter.
